The Hannon Murphy School or The Murphy School as it was, was founded in 1957 by the late Patricia Livingstone (ADCRG) and is one of the leading Irish Dance Schools in the North East.
Patricia and her daughter Kathleen(TCRG) have produced some of the Regions top dancers and are still the only school in the Region to have a solo World Champion Dancer which they are both extremely proud of.
The school has recently been joined by son of Kathleen Chris Hannon who is currently studying for his TCRG.
Chris started dancing for his Grandma and Mother at the age of 8 and had a successful time in competing around the world.
At the age of 16 he left home to be part of the hugely succesful Lord of the Dance and within a few years became a priciple dancer and perfomed with Michael Flatley himself in both the chorus and alongside him as the Don Dorcha.
Chris stayed with the company for 13 years and is still part of the flying squad.
He is now a firm member of the school alongside is mother Kathleen.
The School has won every major Championship in the UK, Ireland, USA an Canada.
From Beginners to adults the HM School strives on guiding pupils to success.
It is also very proud to have no less than 6 dancers tour and perform with the world renowned Lord of The Dance and had male and female dancers perform lead roles alongside Michael Flatley himself.
With the drive and success and family environment the Hannon Murphy school is the Irish Dancing School to be at in the North East.
